In certain situations, sedation is deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of the pet, the groomer, and for the owner.
Extreme Anxiety or Fear: Some pets have a significant fear of grooming procedures. This fear can be the result of past traumatic experiences or simply due to their temperament. When a pet is extremely anxious or fearful, they may become aggressive, making it dangerous for both the groomer and the pet. Sedation can help calm them down and reduce their anxiety during the grooming process.
Aggression or Behavioral Issues: Pets with aggressive tendencies or behavioral problems may pose a risk during grooming. Sedation can help mitigate aggression and make the grooming process safer for everyone involved.
Medical Conditions: Pets with certain medical conditions may require sedation for grooming. For example, if a pet has a painful condition like arthritis, sedation can help keep them still and comfortable during grooming. Sedation may also be necessary for pets with skin conditions that make grooming painful.
Excessive Matting or Tangles: In some cases, pets with severely matted or tangled fur may need to be sedated for their safety. Attempting to groom severely matted fur without sedation can be painful and traumatic for the pet, and could result in unnecessary injury.
DOG SEDATION: $32-$185
CAT SEDATION: $34-122
