Keeping your pet safe is a priority of ours at Critter Care which is why we offer microchipping services and encourage our clients to microchip their pets. In the event that your pet becomes lost or stolen, microchipping provides a reliable and permanent method of identification of your pet.

Pet Microchip Scanner

Microchips are small electronic devices, about the size of a grain of rice, that are implanted under the skin of an animal, typically between the shoulder blades. Each microchip contains a unique identification number that can be read using a scanner. This number is registered in a database along with vital contact information.

Unlike collars or tags, which can fall off or be removed, a microchip remains with the pet throughout its life. Additionally, microchips can provide legal proof of ownership, which can be crucial in cases of disputed ownership or custody battles.

When a microchipped pet is found and taken to a veterinarian, animal shelter, or animal control facility, a microchip scanner is used to retrieve the identification number from the chip. By cross-referencing this number with the database, the owner's contact information is quickly obtained and the pet is returned home safely.
